Domaine de la Méchinière

8 grape varieties in the Cher Valley, 4 colours: white, orange, rosé and red, 10 cuvées in AOC TOURAINE and Vins de France. Our 8 grape varieties, half of which are rare and some of which come from pre-phylloxera vines planted before 1890, make the Méchinière estate a unique gem in the Cher Valley. Grown on living, respected soil, our wines reflect our landscapes and assert their personality with delicious, sincere notes. Our vineyard is on the first slopes of the left bank of the Cher, on siliceous-clay soils. We grow: - Chenin and Orbois, pre-phylloxera co-planting in provignage - Sauvignon blanc, Fié Gris - Gamay - Cabernet franc - Côt (Malbec) and - Pineau d'Aunis. Virtuous pruning methods (Poussard, Poussier, Gobelet), resulting in reduced, concentrated grape yields that enhance the character of our wines. Vines under permanent grass cover, Hand-harvested, Natural fermentation using endogenous flora without additives, Wines with no residual sugar and malolactic fermentation, Natural settling during the winter, no filtration, Low sulphur content, Bottled under nitrogen in Burgundy bottles. Our wines have been AB-certified by ECOCERT FR-BIO-01 since 2013.
